“UNDERWORLD AWAKENING brings a stunning new dimension to the epic battle between Vampires and Lycans, as the first film in the franchise to shoot in 3D. Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes from imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species".
Being a fan of the previous three Underworld films, going to see this one was a no brainer! It's fast paced and full of action. The perfect mix of dark edginess that appeals to a female audience and the badass-ness (not a real word, I apologize!) that makes it fun for the boys too. Of course, having the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale reprising her role of Selene doesn't hurt either!
This is definitely not Twilight. I repeat NOT Twilight! So for those who have been put off of blood sucker movies because the mere word 'Vampire' makes you cringe to the very depths of your soul, rest easy when you sit to watch Underworld Awakening. This film is far more entertaining and much more violent.
With all that being said, the music that comes along with Underworld Awakening is just as fantastic! There is both an Original Motion Picture Score and an Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. They are both equally as dark and sleek as they are entertaining to listen to. I must mention among a track listing of The Cure (an all time favorite of mine!) and Linkin Park, Mr. William Control is particularly a stand out! You can find his brilliant voice on track number ten, 'The Posthumous Letter'. He continues to astound me with everything he creates. The score is is nothing to sneer at either. Paul Haslinger did an impeccable job!
Underworld Awakening in theaters now and both soundtracks are available now also.
Underworld Awaking Original Motion Picture Score and Soundtrack sent to me by the wonderful people at Lakeshore Records. I am not affiliated with Sony Pictures in any way and did not receive any sort of compensation for this review.
